# Troubleshoot macOS stuck at Loading backend

If your macOS seems stuck at **Loading backend**, consider the following:

* Do you have Screen Time enabled? Refer to [macOS Screen Time and Tailscale][kb-macos-webproxyfilterd] for troubleshooting guidance.

* Do you have a virus scanner (or other form of endpoint security) such as ESET installed? In some cases we've found that security measures interfere with Tailscale's operation.
